Events

Over the years we have developed numerous event formats that have now become established fixtures. Here is an overview of our main formats:

The name says it all: for a week we will be working intensively on a topic from the field of society, culture or politics. With lectures, group work and discussions. But also excursions, dance courses and, at the end, the German-Baltic Cultural Days in Lüneburg with a celebratory ball.

How long? 8 days (Sunday-Sunday)

Who? 20 students from the Baltic States, Germany and Ukraine

Where and when? Lauenburg/Lüneburg (end of September alternating with IKB)

Half as long as an IKB, but just as exciting! In Riga and Tartu there is also a ball on Saturday evening. And once a year in a new place.

How long? 4 days (Thursday-Sunday)

Who? 20 students from the Baltic States, Germany and Ukraine

Where and when? Lüneburg (April), Riga (July), Tartu (October) and other places (June)

Three keynote speeches and then it starts: All day Friday there will be workshops to discuss questions relating to the congress topic, learn from each other and prepare a presentation. This is because the German-Baltic Cultural Days are taking place in Lüneburg at the weekend, where the results will be presented to the public. And afterwards there will be German-Baltic culture to take part in at the ball.

The PSS is our basic Baltic history course for everyone who wants to have a solid overview of the history of modern-day Estonia and Latvia. Political history, social history and cultural history of the Estonians, Latvians, Baltic Germans and Ukrainians. And, in addition, there is plenty of time to get to know each other. To sing, to dance and to celebrate a small "Green Ball" at the end.

How long? 8 days (Sunday-Sunday)

Who? 20 students from the Baltic States, Germany and Ukraine

Where and when? Odziena near Pļaviņas (mid-August)

No evaluation would be complete without praise from participants for the excellent organization of the seminar. This is thanks to the great work of our volunteer project leaders, whom we prepare with our own training program.

How long? 4 days (Thursday-Sunday)

Who? 5-20 volunteers from DBJW and partner organizations

Where and when? Darmstadt (February)

The German-Baltic Conference is one of our main events and takes place every year in October in a Baltic city. Its aim is to connect young people, especially those living in Germany and the Baltic States, and to strengthen their voice in politics. As youth ambassadors, the participants in three to four different clusters write a policy paper, which is then handed over to decision-makers. At the same time, a conference of the German-Baltic Youth Exchange Network (GBYEN) takes place, where representatives of German and Baltic youth organizations draw up guidelines on common challenges.

How long? 4 days (Thursday-Sunday)
Who? 20 - 40 Youth Ambassadors, 3-4 Heads of Cluster, about 25 GBYEN representatives (primarily from Germany, the Baltic States and Ukraine)
Where and when? in a Baltic city alternating between Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania (in October)
