On 24-27 October 2024, the German-Baltic Future Foundation (DBJW) will host the sixth edition of its successful youth conference series. The conference, to be held in the beautiful city of Vilnius, Lithuania will provide an unparalleled opportunity for young Europeans (youth ambassadors), aged 16 to 30 years, to come together and engage in meaningful dialogue around the most pressing issues facing our continent in four different clusters.
The provisional theme of this year's conference is "AI for Europe: Reinventing Crisis Management" and each cluster will focus on a specific subtopic within this theme. Below, we have provided some inspiration for possible subtopics, but we also welcome your own ideas and suggestions.
To prepare and lead this thematic cluster work, we are currently looking for young people with preexisting knowledge in the field of AI who are motivated to become one of our four heads of cluster! These leaders will be responsible for coordinating the youth ambassador group work, conceptualizing the cluster’s topic, facilitating intensive discussions, and guiding the development of the final recommendations that will be presented to members of national parliaments in Germany and the Baltic States.
In the lead-up to the conference starting in September 2024, the youth ambassadors will have the opportunity to get to know one another and delve deeper into the topic of their cluster through online meetings. The heads of cluster will be responsible for structuring and leading these meetings, working with the cluster coordination team to invite external experts to provide additional insights and perspectives, and ensuring that all youth ambassadors are brought to a uniform level of understanding and knowledge of the cluster topic.
During and after the conference, the heads of cluster will lead the preparation and finalization of the law and policy proposals targeting one specific national parliament as well as coordinate the dissemination of these proposals in a follow-up event after the conference with members of the national parliament.
Our goal is to foster a collaborative and inclusive environment where young people from all over Europe, mainly but not exclusively from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Germany, can come together to develop law and policy proposals that adopt a common European perspective and take into account the unique experiences of the Baltic states.
